LONG TABLE

Six years after their spaceship-like Bed Supperclub launched onto the international scene, Sanya Souvanna Phouma and Paris M. Batra are hoping to create another Bankgkok icon. Long Table occupies half the 25th floor of a tony new serviced apartment complex and is as angular as Bed is elliptical. The eponymous teak dining surface extends for an impressive 24 meters, while smaller "pod" tables are available for those not inclined to dine communally. Soaring floor-to-ceiling windows open onto a wide terrace with an unobstructed 180-degrees view of the city and its sunsets, while twinkling LEDs set in a mirrored Plexiglass box create an infinitely repeated trompe l'oeil. Chef Dan Ivarie's contemporary Thai dishes make the most of upscale ingredients like the Alaskan king crab used in the stir-fried crab curry (poo pad pong karee) and his version of the quintessential Thai dessert-light pandanus syrup drizzled over three bonbon-sized mango balls and sticky rice-is sweet as can be. 25/F Column Residence, 48 Sukhumvit Soi 16, 25 fl, 66-2/302-2557
